Rolls-Royce has presented the Phantom Metropolitan Collection limited edition at the Paris Motor Show. It features exquisite hand-crafted design inspired by the modern metropolis. A limited edition of 20 units of these beautifully crafted motor cars will be available to commission. The Phantom Metropolitan Collection pays homage to the world’s great metropolises through the meticulous application of marquetry – the art of inlaying small pieces of wood veneer to form decorative motifs. Several months ago Rolls-Royce launched the Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection and now they have another product called Metropolitan Collection developed through their high-end bespoke customization program.
On the picnic table there are no less than 500 individual wood veneer pieces showing an elevated view of the city, a job that requires several days to complete while closing the tables provides a different view of the city. The vehicle also comes with an array of individual wood veneers carefully selected and there’s also a unique Aetherius Grey leather hue together with 6,800 two-tone stitches on the central rear seat flutes which show an abstract image of a skyscraper.
Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection comes with a bespoke clock extending the theme to the front of the vehicle and on the central console there is a rotating bezel expressing 24 cites of the world. The exterior features Darkest Tungsten paint and a hand-applied coachline representing the abstract silhouette of modern skyscrapers. “I can think of no more fitting location than Paris to debut this remarkable new motor car. This is a city that echoes Rolls-Royce’s very special brand promise in perfectly combining the timeless and modern in a manner that celebrates the art of the master craftsperson,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
